Dyson Vacuums Explained
Don't know the difference between DC07 and DC14? Or Full Gear and All Floors? We will quickly explain the difference here so you can better make an informed purchase. The 07, 11 and 14 are the specific model generation as they are available to the general public. Therefore, for Dyson vacuums, the DC01 was the first model ever available. In the United States there are only three models available. The DC07 and DC14 upright and the DC11 canister.
Next the models are named based on the length of warranty and the different accessories that are available. The All Floors is the basic unit and will only come with the standard attachments. The Animal models typically have the highest level of attachments. The Full Gear units are the only models with a three-year warranty. All the rest have a two year warranty.
When it comes to purchasing Dyson vacuums first pick the model number and then focus on the attachments and warranty length that are important to you.
Dyson DC07 History
In America the Dyson DC07 is our first introduction to the vacuum that never looses suction. However it is really the seventh model available for sale. Right now the dual-cyclone DC03 and the DC04 models are still available in Europe. The first model, the DC01 which featured a single cyclone, is no longer available.
The Dyson DC07 was the first model to feature the patented Root8Cyclone technology. With eight cyclones this vacuum was better able to separate dirt, dust and other particles from the air. In fact even cigarette smoke can not escape. There are currently four models available in the United States including the Full Gear which comes with all of the attachments and an extended warranty and the popular Animal vacuum.
Dyson DC14 versus DC07
What makes the Dyson DC14 better then the DC07? Quite a few things. The most important thing is the new telescopic wand. Fast and easy to use all you do is unhook it, pull it our, and you are ready to go. This is a big improvement over the reversible wand that requires several more steps before you are ready to use it.
One feature I over looked was the wide channel feature. When my toddler spilled her cheerios everywhere the DC07 Animal I have at home pushed many of the cheerios out of the way. The wide channel is designed to quickly pick up larger items.
The Dyson DC14 also has a few other differences like 50% more cyclonic power for better cleaning, an easier to reach top filter (not that you will need to clean it that often) and an easier to use larger handle.
